Welcome to the January 2020 DEFCON 201 Meet Up!

It’s a new year and everyone wants it to be over already. But not yet we say! The year of our hack 2020 will be a huge year for us as months of planning for various meeting activities, speakers, small scale events and convention road trips will kick off. Join us to reunite with old friends and make new ones as we learn about Antivirus Evasion techniques, begin advance lockpicking knowlage and begin with HUGE ANNOUCEMENTS of DEFCON 201 activities that will start in February that you will only hear first in person at this meet up!

An Introduction to Antivirus Evasion

:..>This presentation will provide an introduction to the concept of antivirus evasion techniques. It will cover the Who and Why of Antivirus Evasion, common Antivirus Evasion techniques such as obfuscation, abuse of whitelisted apps, packers, ect. This will conclude with a few demos showing AV evasion in action.

:..>Bio: Black Cipher (Kai Pfiester) is the founder and chief security architect at Black Cipher Security, a local cybersecurity and DFIR consulting firm based in Cherry Hill, NJ. His primary skills are in offensive security an incident response.

In the local community he is the chapter lead for TOOOL Philly and the Philly Security Shell. As a speaker he has spoken on cybersecurity panels for major organizations such as the Philly Bar Association, the Philly Bar Institute, Fox Rothschild, Reger Rizzo and Eckert Seamans law firms. As an author, he has written articles on cybersecurity for the NJ Law Journal, NJ Business and Industry Association as well as various Bar Associations in NJ on the country level.

:..>What started in 2019 as a simple basic pin & tumbler locksport training kit for a few people has grown into an extensive locksport mobile classroom in 2020. In this quick overview, we will go over new additional tools and techniques in our kit which includes: combination wheel decoding, Warded locks, Wafer systems and Disk Detainer mechanics. The materials persented in this lession our attendees can practiceduring the Open Workshop & Projects section of the meeting.

:..>DEFCON 201 will have padlocks and professional practice tumblers provided by TOOOL to practice on. Fun and easy to learn for all ages and backgrounds with two expert instructors!

:..>We have a new cardboard engineering construction for anyone of any skill level to try out. Combine DIY fun with simple, shareable VR, plus a new programming tool you can use to make your own quick play VR games and experiences! When finished, we will take turns blasting through an alien invasion, test your skills at competitive hippo feeding, and go wherever else our imagination takes us!

:..>What To Bring: The ability to follow instructions and fold paper. The play portion needs two working eyes with depth perception and a resistance to motion sickness.


:..>DEFCON 201 will expand into video media in late September. We will be launching various videos including an Introduction, Member Spotlights, Archived Lightning Talks, Tutorials, Directions and more on the DTube, Vimeo and YouTube Mirror platforms. We will also have downloadable copies on the DEFCON 201 NextCloud of select media for DEFCON 201 Members who want hard copies of videos. If you want to be in the Introduction, Member Spotlights or Archive Lighting Talks you can inquire into us about signing our DEFCON 201 Consent Forums and we will walk you through the process. Those who have not signed our DEFCON 201 Consent Forums during meetings will NOT be recorded in Video or Audio as per our policy. Furthermore, any instances of media recording photo/video/audio via DEFCON 201 Staff will be alerted to all president attendees beforehand prior to recording.
