COMMUNITY SPOTLIGHT: Bitcon 2023, THRIVE by BMT & REFRESH Summit
After being done with Hacker Summer Camp 2023, we are currently enjoying our “break” as staff prepares to get In-Person DCG 201 Meet Ups back up and running in September & October.
So we wanted to highlight something really cool going on in not just the hacker scene but the STEM community in general. Three major conventions are about to happen each month September — November that are being run by the African American diaspora for their communities that cover STEM and Technology fields.
In short, Fall-Winter 2023 is Black AF.

BITCON is a conference like no other. The annual conference for the Blacks In Technology community spotlights the digital divide for people of African descent while creating a platform to highlight and uplift individuals making extraordinary gain in information technology and related STEM fields.
The conference is two parts professional development, one part block party, and one part networking, all designed to leave attendees educated, motivated, and inspired.
Hosted by Blacks In Technology, LLC (BIT) and the 501(c)(3) Blacks In Technology Foundation. The 2023 conference will be attended by IT professionals, students, and a variety of afro-technologists and futurists.
